Liam is Student Volunteer of the Year

A Sheffield Hallam University student has been named Student Volunteer of the Year, by the National Union of Students and Student Hubs.

Liam Rodgers, a creative writing student in the city, is the leader and founder of Upscribe - a project that helps homeless people to express themselves through creative writing and increase their confidence and ability to work with others

Liam also led on the creation and publication of a book created by people who participated in the project.

The ceremony, earlier this week, marked the start of national Student Volunteering Week, which has been running for 15 years in the UK and will see more than 10,000 students take part in over 500 events at around 100 colleges or universities across the UK.
