Letting policy needs sorting

What’s going on with Sheffield Homes’ housing letting policy.

It seems councils are responsible for drawing up and operating allocation schemes within the framework of legislation. By law certain people must be given priority to ensure that social housing goes to those in greatest need.

Policy states that owner occupiers can join the housing register in the same way as other applicants. However, if they accept a council property they must agree to take all reasonable steps to sell their property within six months of the tenancy. It seems Sheffield Homes don’t follow through with this. I am seeing people with two dwellings beyond six months, in fact years.
