I see the city is hosting a summit on the state of the country’s steel industry which is suffering a serious downturn in fortunes.
This comes when the country has a chronic shortage of affordable homes.
Meanwhile, elsewhere in the city the first building made of shipping containers is about to start construction. And what are shipping containers made of? Oh, that’s right – steel.
Surely there is scope here for some joined-up thinking.
Perhaps the Steel City should stop thinking only of bricks and mortar homes and start thinking more imaginatively, about solving two problems.
