LETTERS: Riding high in April, shot down in May

Have your say

Is it heartache time again for Sheffield United fans, including myself and my son?

Shirley Bassey used to sing a song “That’s life” which just about sums up the Blades season just ending. Shirley sang “That’s Life, that’s what people say, Riding high in April, shot down in May.”

I watched a televised match a few weeks ago, and saw one of the Aston Villa players, Lowton I believe, rocket in a goal from around forty yards which will probably be nominated as goal of the season.

He was once on United’s books, I’m told, just one of the many fine players who have been sold by the club over the years, and who went on to star with Premier League outfits. If the Blades had kept players like Beattie, Jagielka and Walker, they could be a Premier League club themselves.

Where’s the ambition ?
