Lesley spearheads City Hall's 75th anniversary gala - SLIDESHOW

OPERA diva Lesley Garrett was joined by her former Strictly Come Dancing co-stars as they lifted the curtain on this year's Sheffield International Concert series with a glittering gala evening at the City Hall.

Concert-goers were wowed with spectacular music and beautiful dancing at the event which marked the beginning of the City Hall's 75th anniversary celebrations.

Mesmerising Strictly Come Dancing stars Anton du Beke and Erin Boag took a break from filming the hit BBC show as they floated across the stage to the rich tones of the South Yorkshire-born soprano.

The programme included Beethoven's Coriolan Overture, Mascagni's Easter Hymn and Beethoven's Ode to Joy along with a selection of opera arias and music from the shows.

The Sheffield Philharmonic Chorus was joined by the Manchester Camerata conducted by Philip Ellis.
