New two-hour study sessions organised by Doncaster Council at leisure centres in the borough are proving a big success, with youngsters grabbing the chance to boost their revision pre-exams.

Move On Move Up started this month at the Dome and Adwick Leisure Centres, with all attendees offered a free individual or family leisure pass.

Doncaster Council’s director of learning opportunities and skills, Damian Allen, said: “We are really encouraged by the feedback from the first weekend’s sessions. One hundred per cent of attendees found the sessions useful and said they would come again.

“One student left the session at Adwick Leisure Centre finally having “got” algebra thanks to the learning mentor giving him one to one coaching. The rest of the attendees reported that the session had been useful and valuable as well as enjoyable.”

Year 11 students have also received revision guides to help them towards success. Move On Move Up is being supported by DCLT, Frog Education, all secondary schools, Doncaster Rovers and Club Doncaster Foundation.
