AN APPEAL has been made for new top brass to help run an ex-services association.

Stannington and District Branch of the Royal British Legion, in Sheffield, needs a new secretary to help organise its work for military veterans.

A spokesman for the branch said: “The Stannington Branch raises tens of thousands of pounds each year for the annual Poppy Appeal, as well as separate work helping other charitable forces-related groups.

“The voluntary position need only take a few hours each month, and mainly consists of attending meetings twice a month, taking minutes, holding the branch records and a few other administrative roles.

“Anyone interested in this rewarding and interesting role should come forward.”
