Middlewood Rovers Juniors FC have been given a cash boost from the Banks - goalkeeping legend Gordon Banks.

The club is the lucky recipient of £1,966 from house-builder Taylor Wimpey’s giveaway competition, in honour of the England goalie from Tinsley.

The house-builder also made a donation to runners-up Treeton Terriers Junior Football Club.

Rob Austin, treasurer of Middlewood Rovers, said: “The Banks development money will get us some brand new kits and equipment to really establish ourselves.”

The competition invited schools, clubs and charities to pitch on why they should receive the money.
