Attacking midfielder Adam Reach fired the Owls in front on the stroke of half-time with a spectacular long range strike.

But Wednesday were pegged back after the break as Mateusz Klich curled in an unstoppable right foot shot to earn Leeds a point.

The Whites dominated bossed the second half, creating numerous opportunities but the West Yorkshire outfit's finishing in the final third let them down.

Luhukay, who hopes Marco Matias (hamstring) and Daniel Pudil (nose) will be fit for next Wednesday's Hillsborough tussle with West Bromwich Albion, said: "We played very in the first half.

"We had unbelievable tempo and we tried to come very fast into our transition. We had chances and scored a fantastic goal through Adam Reach. It was brilliant to go in with a 1-0 lead at the break.

"We saw why Leeds are top. They put us under pressure in the second half and we had to defend as a team. We didn't play our own football.

"Leeds deserved the draw.

"We had two or three bits of luck where they didn't score the second goal. But I'm not unhappy with my team. In the second half, we didn't play offensively but the team fought hard for the draw.

"It was a point gained.

"It was the maximum we deserved. Leeds had more chances in the second half to score more than one goal."

Reach and his Owls teammates paid an emotional tribute to Hayley Kalinins after his goal of the season contender. Hayley, the wife of Wednesday's performance director Andy, died last week following a brave, prolonged battle with cancer.

After scoring, Reach ran to the dug-out to pick up a shirt which said '˜Kalinins 1' on the back.

"It was a nice gesture," admitted Luhukay. "We know what has happened with Andy's wife. Andy has gone through a difficult time. It was good for the team and fans to pay their respects to Hayley."
