A UNIVERSITY lecturer is to speak at a Sheffield event about whether cooperative enterprises work.

Dr Rory Ridley-Duff, of Sheffield Hallam University, is the speaker at Friday’s event hosted by the Sheffield United Nations Association.

He has been invited to speak as part of the UN International Year of Cooperatives, which is raising awareness of the invaluable contributions of cooperative enterprises and highlighting its strength as a business model.

Dr Ridley-Duff aims to answer questions about whether cooperatives work and to what extent they offer an alternative for economic development.

The talk takes place from 6pm at the Quaker Meeting House on St James Street in Sheffield city centre.
