Learn to live an eco lifestyle

FAMILIES can enjoy a day of green fun in Wirksworth.

A Green Homes Day will be staged at the Derbyshire Eco Centre from 11am to 4pm on Saturday, June 25.

The event aims to help families live more environmentally-friendly lifestyles – saving money at the same time.

Skills taster sessions include building in stone and straw, dry stone walling and heritage roofing in tile, stone and slate.

Demonstrations will run throughout the day of sustainable building skills, and of solar panels to heat water.

Entertainment will include music from Cromford Community Band and The Matlock Band. Steep Turnpike Youth Theatre will perform Three Little Pigs and lead drama workshops for children.

On June 24 a Builders’ Tea, from 2.30pm to 7.30pm, will allow tradespeople to watch demonstrations on heritage buildings, stalls and recycled materials. There will be tea, hot food and a bar.
