Lauren makes Yorkshire and Derbyshire League history by becomeing first woman to hit a century

Not many cricketers are lucky enough '“ or good enough '“ to score a century.

To have two players score tons in the same innings is even more rare.

To have this happen twice in a weekend is remarkable.

But there was one more landmark moment achieved under the blazing sun last Saturday – the first lady cricketer to score a hundred in the YDCL.

Lauren Tuffrey joined her captain John Whiteley in a mammoth stand against Youlgreave Lodge. Lauren hit an undefeated 110, John made 132 as Chesterfield III piled up 353-6 (B Jenkins 42).

Youlgrave Lodge were dismissed for 148 in reply, to be beaten by over 200 runs (G Woolley 42).

Leaders Sheffield Transport would have been more than satisfied with their 264-9 (S Levick 53 Y Kote 60) against Richmond. But Ben Heap with 110 and Mike Rose with 102 not out rocketed Richmond to a 8-wicket win inside 38 overs.

Despite this, Sheffield Transport stay well clear of Hallam IV, who were bowled out for 124 (R Frost 51 R Dewsbury 4-16) by Ridgeway.

But Ridgeway were in turn sent back for 114 (D Andrews 4-33). Stocksbridge II were shot down for 56 (D Whiteley 4-15) by Whittington Wanderers, whose 9-wicket win takes them right up to third.

De La Salle II made 166 all out (C Atkinson 66). Hathersage II just grabbed the win by 5 wickets with 2 balls (M Somerton 42*). This sees Salle sink to the bottom of the table.

Meanwhile, in Division One, there was an upset for leaders Hollinsend Meths who succumbed to 99 all out (A Findlow 5-32), which Hundall reached with 5 wickets down.

Hundall will be delighted to be up to fourth in the table, but even more pleased will be De La Salle.

They recovered from 116-8 to post 213 (E Sides 42 R Scaife 46). Then Ashford in the Water were bowled out for 118 and remarkably De La Salle are top of the Division.

Parkhead also slipped up, being routed for 90 (J Hibbert 5-22) by Stocksbridge, who stormed to the win by 9 wickets (J Newton 62*). This sets up a mouth-watering fixture at the Wheatsheaf ground next Saturday, where and title contenders Parkhead and De La Salle meet.

Hallam III hit up an imposing 255-8 (J Lewis 61 T Wills 62 N Somerton 4-25). Hathersage were undaunted and chased hard until eventually with the last pair together, the tying run was scrambled (Z Javed 92 S Askew 41).

Sheffield Centralians made 198-9 (E Pierce 87) and sent back bottom club Totley Bent for 106 all out.

In Division Two, it was a top two tussle at Warminster Road as the visitors and leaders Sheffield Civil Service scored 143-8. In turn, home team Sheffield University Staff struggled to be sent back for 97 (L Hobbs 4-21). This tightens the Civil Servants grip on the title race.

Sheffield Collegiate IV close to within a point of Staff, after scoring 235-4 (T Miller 85* N Gaywood 50*) and dismissed Hollinsend Meths II for 113 (R Needham 58 M Longley 5-13).

Bakewell were all out for 114 (L Tann 41), Sheffield Medics easing to a 7-wicket victory (S Rajebhosale 63*) and fourth place in the Division.

Norton Woodseats II hit up 214-9 as Tom Eyre made 121 not out. However, Parkhead II made light of the target, racing to the win by 5 wickets in 31 overs (J Walmsley 43 G Wheatley 42*).

Grindleford scored 227-7 (P Hill 83 T Gaubert 43), however Telecom Sports responded with 229-8 (G Bonner 67 M Hague 52), which keeps Grindleford on the bottom of the table.

In Division Four, it was a return to business as usual for leaders Sheffield Centralians II. They racked up 235-7 (Wrigglesworth 87 Stow 44) at home to bottom side Whittington Wanderers II, who succumbed for just 93. Closing in on their lead are Sheffield University Staff II. They bowled Sheffield Civil Service II out for just 84 and romped to a ten-wicket win. The nearest challengers to the top two are Sheffield Superkings. They smashed the highest score of the day , 374-8 (Sajith 131 Ram 55 Bala 50). They then proceeded to skittle Chesterfield Barbarians II for just 81 (Gowri 4-38).

Walkley made 149 all out (K Patra 40) but couldn’t prevent Coal Aston III from achieving a two-wicket win (S Cross 43, S Hall 40).

In Division Five, leaders Baslow sent back third-placed Hollinsend Meths III for 92 (G Chandler 4-26). A seven-wicket win was the outcome (C Knowles 41). There was an upset for second-placed Hundall II. Hallam V hit up 208 (Srivatsa 75 Laycock 67) and managed to restrict the promotion candidates to 135-9.

Telecom Sports II posted a reasonable 152 all out (J Dutton 41) but ultimately fell to Sheffield Transport II by two wickets.

Bottom side Coal Aston IV mustered 138 but went down six wicket losers to Sheffield Collegiate V (M Chaudry 56*)
