Several gas canisters were stolen from a Sheffield hospital after a break-in - and police have now launched an appeal.

The canisters stolen during the break-in at Thornbury Hospital on Fulwood Road, are thought to contain Nitrous Oxide.

The break-in happened between 5pm on June 28 and 7am on June 29.

Detective Chief Inspector Steve Whittaker from Sheffield said: “The motive for the theft of this gas is unclear at this time, but the theft of medical equipment is concerning and could put lives at risk.

“I would urge anyone that has been offered canisters of this gas for sale, or if you know an individual who has this type of gas canister in their possession, to get in touch.”

Anyone with information should call 101 quoting incident 182 of June 29.
