Concerned Sheffield daughter Linda Crawley has warned people to be aware of a phone scam after her 85-year-old mum received a voicemail telling her she was being investigated for a criminal offence.
Ms Crawley said her mum did not act on the message, which was left on Tuesday, but wanted to make others aware of the scam.
"It was a recorded message and it said she was being investigated and needed to ring a certain number and if she didn't there would be legal consequences," she said.
"My mum is savvy about such things but it still worried her and there will be people out there who aren't and will ring the number, which is a premium rate line too."
Ms Crawley said the family had reported the call to South Yorkshire Police.
