Thousands of fans tried to get their hands on the precious tickets as dates began to sell out quickly.

Extra dates were added for Sheffield, London, Birmingham, Newcastle and Dublin but standing tickets for all dates were at a premium.

Many fans were left disappointed in the sale but tickets have already appeared on Viagogo for over ten times the face value.

Tickets for Friday, September 21 in Sheffield are currently on sale for £879 with other dates across the country up for over £3,000.

Fans have been left disgusted by the ticket touting website and have taken their anger out on Twitter.

Debbie said: "What a joke, no Arctic Monkeys tickets available anywhere but Viagogo have them one minute after they've gone on sale... for nearly £800???!!?!!!"

Charlie Woodcock said: "So I sat in a Ticketmaster queue for half an hour to try and get Arctic Monkeys Tickets for my girlfriend only to see they've all been sold out.

"What makes me sick is to see them already being resold on Viagogo for a minimum of £372 per ticker! Disgusting."

Caity Wilson said: "Completely ridiculous the way the tickets sell out so fast then sold on for stupid amounts. Arctic Monkeys sell out everywhere straight away and still Viagogo can get them n sells them like this.

"Completely unfair on people that this still happens."

Adam Parr said: "Just seen Standing Tickets on Viagogo being sold at £879 for arctic monkeys in Sheffield. "Absolute madness. RIP off Britain at its finest. #arcticmonkeystickets #ArcticMonkeys"

However, ticket websites have warned that the ticket will become immediately invalid if resold or offered for sale unless through the band's official face-value resale partner Twickets.

The surname of the lead booker will be printed on all tickets and this cannot be changed once the booking has been made.

Where more than one ticket has been purchased, each guest in the party must arrive with the lead booker at the venue on the night of the show.

To gain admission to the show, the lead booker must bring the tickets and a valid photo ID matching their surname on the tickets.

Failure to do so will result in refusal of admission to the concert.
