The Sheffield Retired Greyhound Trust collected £3,500 in a weekend of festive fundraising.

It held its annual Christmas Fayre in Wortley, which raised £2,500, and a further £1,000 was raised at the Kelham Island Victorian Christmas Market to support the re-homing of retired greyhounds in the city.

Lynda Cattlin, who runs the Sheffield Retired Greyhound Trust with her husband Roy, said: “Events like this are so important for us, not only to raise money to support the re-homing of our greyhounds, but also to raise awareness of the work we do.”

The Trust has found new homes for more than 1,000 retired greyhounds since 2006.
