Disgraced peer issues apology

SOUTH Yorkshire peer Lord Ahmed of Rotherham has apologised after blaming a ‘Jewish conspiracy’ for his dangerous driving jail sentence.

Lord Ahmed, given a prison term for sending text messages shortly before his car was involved in a fatal crash, was suspended by the Labour Party for his comment, filmed on television in Pakistan.

He said: “I’m sorry to all my colleagues in the Lords and in the House of Commons because I’m not antisemitic or a conspiracy theorist.”
