LATEST: Woman arrested over amusement arcade blaze in South Yorkshire

A woman has been arrested on suspicion of arson following a fire at an amusement arcade in Barnsley.

The 43-year-old was arrested in the early hours of this morning after a fire broke out the Quicksilver arcade in Eldon Street.

Firefighters spent around two hours at the scene and the blaze is being treated as arson.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: "At around 1.55am this morning, emergency services were called to the Leisurama Entertainment building in Eldon Street, Barnsley, following reports the building was on fire.

"A 43-year-old woman has been arrested.

"Enquiries are ongoing and the road has been closed for some time while emergency services investigate."
