THE elements are the theme of this year’s annual Sharrow Lantern Festival and workshops are getting under way so crafty types can start creating their designs.
The spectacle, in which amazing creations parade through the streets of the Sheffield suburb, is due to be held for the eighth time on Sunday April 3.
Lantern-makers can take a scientific or spiritual approach to the theme and all are invited to get involved.
Every Saturday until the end of March there will be open workshops where participants can learn how to make their own lanterns for the procession.
Workshops are every Saturday until April 2 from noon until 4pm at Sharrow Old Junior School on South View Road, and the Highfield Trinity Church on London Road.
