A SHEFFIELD language project has won a top European award for its support for bilingual learners and their communities.

The Home Language Accreditation Project - HoLa - is based at King Edward VII School in Broomhill, and recognises and rewards young people who are studying their home language.

European judges praised the ‘collaboration between mainstream and complementary schools in this project who are working in partnership with the city council and the Sheffield Children’s University to share information for the benefit of students with a home language’.

HoLA was also awarded the Mary Glasgow Trust Award and £2,000 at the London presentation.
