A private Sheffield landlord who unlawfully evicted his tenant has been given community service by magistrates.

Naveed Hussain, aged 32, grabbed and twisted tenant Dawit Tesfay’s wrist, ordered him to leave his rental property, racially abused him and then removed his possessions from the property.

He was prosecuted by Sheffield Council for harassing Mr Tesfay and unlawful eviction.

Hussain, of Pitsmoor Road, Pitsmoor, Sheffield, must carry out 120 hours of unpaid work for the community, pay £1,538 in costs and a victim surcharge of £60.

Councillor Harry Harpham, Sheffield Council’s cabinet member for homes and neighbourhoods said: “Naveed Hussain subjected his tenant to some terrible behaviour.”
