CUTS to road safety budgets for Sheffield Council community assemblies mean funding for a pedestrian crossing is now in doubt.

Plans for the facility, on Abbey Lane in Ecclesall Woods, were proposed by pupils of King Ecgbert School and supported by Dore and Totley Lib Dem councillor, Colin Ross.

The project was being considered for funding by the South West Community Assembly. However, it has £40,000 for road safety over the coming year.

Coun Ross said: “The decision to slash budgets has put the project in doubt.”

Labour councillors said the blame fell on coalition cuts.
