Like most members of UKIP I cannot remember the political situation from 1979 onwards, however the older Labour-voting members of my family tell me that after the last recession of Callaghan, Healey and Wilson, the Conservative Government kept wages high by allowing unemployment to increase.
Labour heavily criticised the Conservative Government for allowing unemployment to rise whilst keeping living standards high for those in employment.
Since the last Labour recession of Blair and Brown the coalition Government have kept unemployment low. A consequence of this is that living standards have fallen as unemployment has been kept low.
Labour now criticise the coalition for keeping unemployment low, as living standards have fallen.
Rather than the Labour Party making fools of themselves by criticising the Government for sorting out their mess, either by high unemployment or low living standards, Labour Governments should not get the nation into recession because of their stupid economic policies.
