Knife-wielding man threatened shop staff during attempted robbery

Detectives investigating an attempted armed robbery at a Sheffield shop have issued CCTV images in a bid to track down the culprit.

A man, who had his face covered, entered the One Stop store, on Halifax Road, in Wadsley Bridge and threatened staff with a knife.

The terrified staff ran to the back of the store and the man fled empty handed.

Police believe the man in the CCTV images might be able to help with enquiries.

PC Sam Wardman, from South Yorkshire Police’s Force Crime Unit in Sheffield, said: “This was a nasty incident that left the victims shaken and distressed.

“Luckily, the suspect left the store without cash or valuables but it is unacceptable to threaten another person with violence.

“We believe the man pictured could hold vital information and I’d like to hear from anyone who might recognise him.”

The attempted robbery occurred between 6.55am and 7am on Thursday, October 29.
