I will own up to being a dog walker of three dogs all family pets I might add. Today I was walking in the Ewden Valley where sheep were grazing. My three dogs were on leads at this point, we walked past the sheep who gave us a look then carried on eating. All good so far. Following me were a family, two adults, two dogs on leads and three children. I could not believe it when the children were actively encouraged by the adults to run towards the peaceful herd of sheep and firstly scatter them, then try to round them up. There was shouting, laughter, screaming and clearly frightened sheep. Had the farmer witnessed this I wonder if the threat of ‘shooting the dog’ or the £1000 fine for the dog owner would equally be applied to children and parents?
