Kerry hits unbeaten 175 in Yorkshire and Derbyshire Cricket League

Parkhead made 205 all out (Burkinshaw 57 Grime 5-71) and dispatched Hallam III for just 86 (Turner 8-36).

A handful of points Meths last fixture, at home to already relegated Hallam III, will seal back to back titles.

After last week’s woeful batting, De La Salle smashed their way 311-5 (M Cull 91 K O’Sullivan 70 J Hulley 56).

Stocksbridge replied with a handy 216-6 (M Price 71).

Sheffield Centralians mustered just 64 (D Harlington 5-24) against Hundall, who won by 6 wickets. Ashford in the Water made 99 all out (M Abid 4-21), Totley Bent passing this with 5 wickets in hand (A Hussain 46*).

In Division Two, Hollinsend Meths II were dismissed for 105 (P Singhal 44 R Horne 4-28), with Sheffield Civil Service sealing a simple win by 6 wickets (S Frier 48* L Hobbs 46*), this ensures the Division Two title for the Servants.

Norton Woodseats II made 102-9 (S Patwardhan 4-21), Sheffield University Staff easing an 8-wicket win (J Mohanamurali 42*).

This means a win for Staff in their last game will see them promoted back to the top flight.

Grindleford were 143 all out (S Willis 64 L Brennan 4-34), Sheffield Collegiate IV passing this total with 4 wickets down (T Miller 56*).

A result that condemns Grindleford to finishing on the bottom. Parkhead II were bowled out for 151 (J Oldham 42), which Sheffield Medics surpassed by 3 wickets (P Rao 71* H Zaman 4-40).

Division Three champions Sheffield Transport had a scare on Saturday, being all out for 130 (P Deignan 59 D Booker 5-26) against Youlgrave Lodge.

The home team made steady progress but finished agonisingly just 4 runs short with only 4 wickets down (G Woolley 46*). In the match between second and third, second placed Hallam IV knocked up 209-5 (S Heyes 64 M Ahmed 65).

Whittington Wanderers batted steadily, but lost wickets regularly and almost got to the target, falling just short at 204-9 (A Brocklehurst 64 B Brownlee 5-64). This ends Whittington’s wonderful run of wins and sees Hallam IV secure second place.

The 9 men of Stocksbridge II battled to 134 all out (J Tomlinson 60*), but a vintage bowling performance saw De La Salle II dismissed for 109 (A Hibbert 4-28).

This will see Stocksbridge II survive relegation, but almost certainly dooms De La Salle to the drop.

Hathersage II went a long way securing their Division Three status by making 172 all out (B Somerton 70 S Walsh 4-20) and keeping Chesterfield III to 140-9 (E Henderson 4-39).

Ridgeway scored 193 (R Tate 76) against Richmond, who reached their target with just 2 wickets in hand (S Burton 41 M Rose 42 W Cooper 6-55).

The fate of the Division Four title will go down to the final league weekend.

Currently top are Sheffield Centralians II. They restricted Coal Aston III to just 81-9 (V Verma 5-26) and raced to an eight-wicket win thanks to Kevin Owers (51*).

Cents visit third bottom Whittington Wanderers II next Saturday. Sheffield Superkings hold second place.

They skittled Sheffield Civil Service for just 20 (R Gandamala 5-10) and romped to a nine-wicket success.

Bottom side Chesterfield Barbarians II are their opponents next week. Also in the mix but currently in third, are Sheffield University Staff II.

They saw the Barbs pile up 280-6 (M Slack 101 A Roddis 67). Staff were ruthless in reply, claiming a ten-wicket win, with Hemant Mistry (75*) and Paul Kerry hitting a majestic 175 not out, smiting their way to victory.

Kerry and Mistry’s unbroken partnership of 281 has sent the stattos scurrying for the record books to check if this is a new YDCL record.

Staff’s opponents next week are second bottom Sheffield Civil Service II. Elsewhere, Whittington Wanderers II were bowled out for 78 (B Kumbhum 53) allowing Walkley to take a nine-wicket success.

Baslow are the champions of Division Five. They compiled 188-9 (A Tamahankar 4-33) at home to Hallam V, who replied with 149-6.

There is a two-horse race for second place. Currently in charge are Hundall II. They visited Hollinsend Meths III, who scored 153-7 (L Wake 69).

Success came the Derbyshire sides way with a seven-wicket win (R Wilde 41). Hundall play host to Hallam V next week. Also with a mathematical chance of second are Sheffield Transport II.

They benefitted from Sheffield Collegiate V conceding their fixture this week and must travel to the free-scoring Telecom Sports II hoping for a big win the next.

Telecom amassed 219-8 (P Babu 73 S Saaduddin 59) away at Coal Aston IV, who replied with 159 all out.
