The Kardashians Made Me Do It, The Leadmill

She discusses the issue in her first political stand-up show, The Kardashians Made Me Do It, at the Leadmill on Thursday.

Shazia explained: “The show has got nothing to do with the Kardashians. If you’re coming to see who robbed her at knifepoint, I haven’t got the answers.”

“It’s about political caricaturing, people being abducted by Isis and Jihadi brides and it’s hilarious.”

Shazia reckons she’s in a good position to offer an explanation about why young Muslim women, like three schoolgirls from Bethnal Green, travel to Syria to marry Isis fighters.

She used to teach at a nearby school and said Muslim girls talk about what all girls talk about - boys, clothes and music.

She believes that the East London trio were attracted to Isis’s macho posturing, not their violent ideology, seeing them as “hot guys with guns”.

She said: “I watched the Home Affairs Select Committee when parents of the girls were interviewed. They were asked, ‘Why is your daughter going to Syria’? They said, ‘We can’t understand why she went, she used to watch the Kardashians’.

“I blame the Kardashians for everything but not Isis.”

Shazia was fascinated to hear the parents say what was on a shopping list in one of the girls’ bedrooms: “The top of the list said an epilator and a packet of new knickers and body lotion.

“You’re going to join a terrorist organisation that hates women and you’re doing your bikini line?”
