Just four people are currently being treated in hospital in Doncaster for coronavirus, health bosses have said.

Doncaster and Bassetlaw NHS Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust, which runs Doncaster Royal Infirmary, said that there are just a handful of COVID-19 patients currently in its care.

A spokesman said: “At the time of writing, we are caring for four Covid-19 positive patients within Doncaster Royal Infirmary.

"Thankfully none require intensive care and we wish them all the very best.

The Trust said that in total, it had seven coronavirus patients in its care, with a further three at Worksop’s Bassetlaw Hospital.

There have been more than 250 confirmed deaths from coronavirus in Doncaster since the start of the pandemic, but the figure is thought to be higher.
