Joy as Sheffield community groups receive £25, 000 cash windfall
Two Sheffield community groups have received a cash windfall worth more than £25, 000 to improve their facilities.
The High Green Development Trust received £18,482 to fund the replacement of the heating system in the sports hall at Paces Campus in High Green.
Meanwhile, The Link Community was awarded £7,368 to go towards improving external fixtures, such as new shutters, at their base at the Link Hub in Stradbroke Drive, Woodhouse.
Both grants were awarded by The Veolia Environmental Trust.
Jackie Hall, financial projects administrator, said: “We are delighted to have been awarded this grant.
“It means that we can push forward with our project to install an efficient heating system, which we feel will attract more users.
“We are looking forward to getting work started.”
Helen Eadon, centre founder, said: “This grant is great news.
“This project will improve the appearance and environmental performance of the building, as well as make it more comfortable for its users.”
Paul Taylor, executive director of The Veoila Environmental Trust, said: “These two projects will transform these community facilities, making them more comfortable, flexible and fit-for-purpose. We are seeing an ongoing reduction in the amount of funds that we can award, so the two organisations need to be congratulated on securing these grants.”
