The tradition of having a “Little Mayor” for the day in Rotherham is back for a 22nd year today.
Nine-year-old Joseph Barker, of Kimberworth Park, will be experiencing the life of Rotherham’s highest dignitary.
To start the day off in the correct way, Little Mayor Joseph will be performing official duties at the Town Hall, including a robing ceremony and the signing of documents.
From there, the Roughwood School pupil will accompany the Mayor, Dave Pickering, on visits to the Advanced Manufacturing Park, New York stadium and the library at Riverside House.
Joseph will also enjoy lunch and have a tour of the Town Hall with Deputy Little Mayor, Caitlin Cardie, 10, who will go onto become next year’s Little Mayor.
