Jose Morais proud and happy as Barnsley's survival hopes rise after win over Brentford

Kieffer Moore opened the scoring with a cross-shot after 11 minutes before Oliver McBurnie scored in the last home game of his loan spell for the club six minutes into the second half.

It means the Tykes move out of the relegation zone on goal difference, giving them control of their own destiny, although the results ended Brentford's slim play-off chances.

Morais said: "I'm very proud of the team. The way we performed today was something that I was expecting, but much more times than it in fact did happen here.

"We deserved more times than just the two times we won at home while I have been here.

"I am happy for the boys, happy for the club and happy for the fans because these players wanted to reward the fans with a win in our last game here.

"I think they always wanted it. I know the effort they are putting in, the will they have and I know the quality they have.

"For some reason, in some moments, things just don't come out. But I believed the seeds were there and one day they will come out - today was one of those days."

The opening goal came after a swift counter. Gary Gardner won the ball and released Moore, whose effort somehow found the net courtesy of the post.

McBurnie then sealed victory when he headed home Adam Hammill's corner.

Moore was unlucky not to add further goals, but he skied one from close-range before firing just wide with only the keeper to beat.
