It was a case of digging deep and getting dirty when residents joined forces with housing staff and council contractors to give their Sheffield estate a spring clean.
Events took place on the Lansdowne Estate, Sharrow, as part of the Love Where You Live campaign, which is backed by The Star.
A series of litter picks has been held over the last few weeks, at the same time as the homes are given a brighter look with new cladding.
Toni Osborne, who chairs Lansdowne Tenants’ and Residents’ Association, said: “It’s been a great way for the community to get together and see how much effort goes into clearing problems like fly-tipping.
“We’ve also been working with council contractors Veolia and Amey to raise awareness of new recycling bins on the estate.”
Coun Harry Harpham, council cabinet member for housing, said: “Residents want to take a pride in where they live.”
