Join in this year's Ugly Bug Ball

Volunteers are hard at work creating lanterns for this year's Sharrow Lantern Carnival.

This year’s theme is Ugly Bug Ball and lantern making workshops are already underway to prepare for the ball at Mount Pleasant Park on Sunday April 10.

Craig Brailsford, who is coordinating this year’s volunteers, said: “Volunteers play a crucial part in this long-standing community event and we are always pleased to welcome new and old faces each year.

“Making a lantern is easy and can be done in an afternoon. All materials are provided and it is a great opportunity to make new friends and get involved in this popular, annual event.

“We are delighted with the response so far. If you still want to get involved then get in touch and join our happy band of ugly bugs. Workshops tend to get very busy so get there early.”

The next round of worskhops will be held every Wednesday at St Mary’s Church on Bramall Lane from March 9 to April 6.
