This new mud-filled experience for the whole family will squelch into the region on March 30, in support of Bluebell Wood Hospice

The beautiful Hesley Wood Scout Activity Centre, on White Lane, will host this Yorkshire first muddy extravaganza, which organisers MLS hope to turn into an annual event.

With the emphasis on fun, participants will have the choice of a 3km or 5km charity scramble with a muddy difference, taking on a course which involves slithering and crawling through numerous obstacles, including the ‘Pit of Doom’ and ‘Dead Man’s Pool.’

MLS race organiser, Yuri Matischen, said: “You don’t need to be worried about time with MudMadness; it’s an event that works great with a group of friends or as a family, and helping each other round is what we encourage.

“Have a positive attitude to mud and water, wear old clothes and a smile, and have one heck of a laugh whilst raising money for Bluebell Wood!”

The Family MudMadness 3km is suitable for those aged 11 and over and will take place on an appropriate and shortened version of the full course from 10am. Ages are taken by the participants age on the day, not at time of registering.

The 5km Mud Madness will kick off at 12 noon and it suitable for participants aged 17 and over. You may be asked by registration staff to present photo ID as proof of age on the day.

Those wishing to take part need only be able to physically complete the course without assistance, however marshals will be on hand on the day to maintain the safety of all participants at all times.

Registration will open from 9am to 11.30am at the Chapeltown scout camp base.

All those taking part will receive a MudMadness t-shirt on arrival on the morning and collect a medal on crossing the finish line.
