John's ready for latest challenge

SOME would say he must be mad to walk 25 miles a day for a whole month.

But John Burkhill, well known as Sheffield’s madcap pram-pusher, is taking his latest challenge in his stride.

John, aged 67, from Richmond, is a popular face in the city and beyond with his efforts raising money for good causes. To date he has raised 100,000 by taking part in over 600 road races and walks around the UK.

His latest challenge is to walk almost the distance of a marathon every day for the entire month of August!

This time the dad and granddad is supporting Macmillan Cancer Support, and will walk the same route each day, taking in five Somerfield supermarkets including those in Broomhill and Ecclesall Road in Sheffield, pushing his trusty pram.

John said: “It is a challenge but I am looking forward to it. I hope people will come out and support me.”

In the past John has helped Weston Park Hospital and Children in Crisis through raising cash from his walks.
