A NEW supermarket will create 15 jobs in Barnsley town centre.

Chain store Lidl will open a new store on Peel Street later this month.

The opening day will also give shoppers the chance to sample some of the supermarket’s goods - with free tasting sessions and cooking demonstrations.

Customers can also look forward to special offer bargains.

Lidl spokeswoman Claire Norman said: “Our customers trust us to offer them high quality products at the lowest prices, and the new Barnsley store offers a value-for-money shopping experience to local residents.”

The Lord Mayor of Barnsley, Councillor Dorothy Higginbottom, will open the event on Thursday, September 20, at 8am.
