Jobs boost for South Yorks

PLANS to convert a South Yorkshire warehouse into six retail units – with the potential to create more than 200 permanent jobs – are to be discussed by planners next week.

Rotherham Council members will discuss the Cortonwood proposal on Thursday.

Barnsley and Rotherham Chamber of Commerce said: “We support this plan, which has an obvious business case to create 255 full-time positions and about 32 construction jobs. It represents significant economic benefit for the area and will ensure the site continues to make a contribution to the local economy.”
