Jobless figures mixed fortunes

NUMBERS of jobless young people in South Yorkshire remain high despite a fall in the UK’s overall jobless figure of 65,000 to 2.58 million in the three months to May.

Labour MPs have voiced concern that the number of people aged 18 to 24 in South Yorkshire who are unemployed is 240 per cent more than last year. Michael Dugher said there had been a seven per cent rise in jobless youths last month in his Barnsley East constituency.
