Job fears put sickness in shade

Have your say

WORKERS in Sheffield are trudging into work even when sick because they fear losing their jobs, a survey has showed.

One in 10 city employees said they took less time off in 2012 than previously, with a quarter saying concerns over job security were the prime motivator.

And the poll found seven out of 10 people said they didn’t take a single day off from work during 2012.

Spokesman Rob Metcalfe said: “When people fear for their jobs, they are much more determined to show their dedication to the cause, even when ill.”
