Jarvin Blake murder: Answers to finding Sheffield dad's killers lie in Burngreave

Det Supt Una Jennings was speaking as officers handed out posters and spoke to residents four weeks after Jarvin, 22, was stabbed to death at the junction of Catherine Street and Brackley Street.

Officers were joined by detectives to hold the awareness event around the scene of what detectives are treating as targeted attack.

Det Supt Jennings said: "I think the answers to the murder investigation lie within some information that will sit within this local community. The smallest piece of information can make a huge difference.

"We are particularly interested in relation to a vehicle that was sited in and around the time of the murder of Jarvin Blake - a light blue Volvo. If you have any information and were in and around the Burngreave area on March 8 around 3pm, please pick up the phone to South Yorkshire Police because, actually, you could hold the key to what could be the solution in this murder investigation for us."

Jarvin, from Gleadless, was stabbed after a car - believed to be the light blue Volvo - pulled up alongside him and he was chased by a gang of men who jumped out.

His friend he was with at the time was also injured but survived.

Officers handed out multilingual leaflets to members of the public in and around Spital Hill.

Det Supt Jennings said: "We have had a huge amount of support from the local community. We've had a significant amount of information fed into the police enquiry today and we want that to continue.

"I say that in the context that I know it's very difficult to pick up the phone to the police service, and I know that sometimes the smallest piece of information might seem fairly inconsequential to you as an individual looking at it in isolation.

"If you have been out here in the Burngreave in and around that relevant time of 3pm on Thursday, March 8, pick up the phone and have the conversation with the enquiry team because actually it could be that one piece of information we are missing in order to put together a really strong and robust case that might bring people to justice for the murder of Jarvin Blake."
