Britain's heavyweight hope might be at the top of the bill but Jamie McDonnell is out to steal the show in London on Saturday night.

Hatfield’s WBA bantamweight champion will defend his title against Fernando Vargas on Saturday night at the O2 Arena where Olympic gold medallist Anthony Joshua makes his first challenge for a world title against Charles Martin.

And after a 20-week camp, he is ready to turn on the style against his Mexican foe.

“I feel like a million dollars and I want to look a million dollars on Saturday night,” he told the Free Press.

“It’s been a long camp but I feel the best I’ve ever felt and I’m absolutely flying. We’ve had top quality sparring, I’ve made the weight better than I ever had and I feel great.

“I’m ready to win and win in style. There’s some big names on that bill but I want to steal the show.

“I’ve not fought over here in a year and a half so I’m ready to make a statement before a big summer.”

Opponent Vargas was drafted in at the weekend after previous opponent Juan Alberto Rosas pulled out due to a sparring injury.

Vargas has won 29 of his 41 fights, ending 20 early. He has not fought since last June when he convincingly out-pointed Wilfredo Vazquez Jr.
