James Bond star and husband of Miss World is buried in Doncaster

Keyboard maestro and jazz organist Alan Haven, who worked alongside legendary 007 composer John Barry on Bond flicks From Russia With Love and Goldfinger, has been given a green burial in Bawtry.

Mr Haven, 80, was well known in musical circles during the 1960s and his single Image, released in 1965, was frequently used as a theme tune by famed pirate radio station Radio Caroline. It was also used as a theme by DJ Tony Blackburn.

Prestwich-born Mr Haven also provided music for comedy film A Jolly Bad Fellow, which was released in 1964, and the Richard Lester film The Knack …and How to Get It which came a year later.

He also released several albums in the 1960s and 1970s, including a recording of a live set at Ronnie Scott's in London. His friend, comedy legend Spike Milligan, contributed the album notes for the 1971 release St. Elmo's Fire.

In 1965, he married Miss World winner Lesley Langley and the couple had one daughter. During his career, he also worked with the likes of Cilla Black, Shirley Bassey and Lulu.

The 'green burial' was organised by Respect Direct Funeral Services which has a 'cemetery' in Bawtry.

The none-attended ceremony saw Mr Haven laid to rest in a golden shroud with saxophonist Adrian Bosnia playing music at the graveside.

Respect spokesman Gordon Tulley said: "He passed away last week and both he and his daughter chose an express burial as they wanted a simple no fuss service.

"They looked at all the other green burial parks and chose Respect's award winning park in South Yorkshire."

"I felt that due to Alan’s reputation within the music industry, he deserved a professional solo saxophonist to play his song and the two title tracks to the James Bond movies at his funeral."
