Jago and mum will take on 60km challenge for city charity

Four-year-old Jago Simons, who has been treated at Sheffield Children's Hospital since he was born, will be joining forces with his mum Georgina for the Virtual Stampede challenge this September.

Jago will be hopping on the back of Georgina’s bike as they visit each and every elephant on the Herd of Sheffield Trail - whilst working towards their 60k target.

Georgina, a member of the team at Inmotion!, said: “I’m getting involved in the stampede as, without the care received from staff at the Sheffield Children’s Hospital and Jessop Wing Neonatal Unit, our son wouldn’t be with us today. He was born extremely premature at 24 weeks, weighing just one and a half pounds, and spent over four months in hospital. He came home on oxygen and we kept ourselves in virtual isolation to minimise infection risk. Tube feeding him every three hours was very stressful. Fast forward four years and, with the utterly amazing support we’ve received, our ‘Mr Strong’ now loves cycling everywhere and is ready to help raise funds for a hospital we owe his life to.”
