Staff at a Sheffield store raised £620 by holding a beach party.
The Co-Operative Food in Stocksbridge held a raffle, bag packing for donations and a name the cuddly toy dog competition.
All staff wore appropriately summery clothing of shorts, T-shirts and sunglasses.
All money raised will be donated to Mencap, the Co-Op’s nationally nominated charity for 2011.
So far this year, the Stocksbridge store has raised more than £2,000, with more fundraising events yet to come.
Next up, on Saturday, September 17, is a sponsored 20 mile walk from their store on Pinstone Street to the store in Penistone, calling at all the Co-Op stores along the way.
And in October they will hold a Halloween-themed fundraising event, with scary costumes, themed food items and a raffle for £50 worth of vouchers.
