Is there no limit to Labour’s hypocrisy? After cries of anguish over Forgemasters, VAT increases (which they planned to increase anyway), and student fees (after Labour twice broke promises to students), we now have Labour MPs accusing our Lib Dem council of delaying cuts to leave a Labour council ‘with a string of deeply unpopular decisions to take’.
For 10 years Labour ignored looming problems of pensions, defence costs and banking regulation and allowed spending to run out of control. It left Britain with its biggest ever peace-time deficit. Nine months later, it has still not told us how it would reduce this mountain of debt. Isn’t it time Labour put up or shut up?
