A Sheffield woman was delighted when she was given a new BlackBerry phone as a Christmas present.
However, Mary Dexter’s excitement soon turned to anguish when just weeks later it stopped working correctly.
And now, despite several trips to the O2 store and the mobile phone being sent away for repairs, she is still experiencing problems.
Mary, of Crooksmoor said: “About three weeks after I got it the problems started.
“My boyfriend said he couldn’t hear me on the phone, but I could still hear him.
“I took it to the shop with my receipt and the shop assistant said they were happy to send it off to be repaired.
“However, when it came back it still wasn’t working.
“Now it echoes when I make and receive calls.
“I’ve taken it into the store five times now, and each time it comes back with another problem.
“The sales assistant said there isn’t anything they can do. She wasn’t helpful at all, so I’d told them I would contact Action Desk to help.
“It’s costing me money because I’m having to travel into town, when I’m a full-time carer for my mum and should be with her.”
Within a couple of hours of Action Desk contacting O2, Mary had received some great news – the company offered her a new phone.
A spokesman for O2 said they had contacted Ms Dexter and replaced her BlackBerry 9720 with a Samsung Galaxy Mini S3.
He said: “She is happy with the outcome.”
Mary told Action Desk: “Thank you. I don’t think I would have got anywhere without your help.”
