Irritable bowel pain disrupts many lives

A NEW survey by a patient website reveals abdominal pain associated with Irritable Bowel Syndrome can be far worse than many other types of pain.

The digestive complaint is, say many sufferers, worse than headaches, back pain and period pain. And over a quarter of women sufferers believe the pain from cramps and spasms associated with IBS could be worse than childbirth, describing the pain as ‘stabbing’, ‘twisting’ and ‘unbearable’.

Abdominal pain associated with IBS can strike at any time, without warning, and can have a considerable impact on the everyday lives of sufferers. As well as disrupting sleep, work and play, nearly one in three sufferers feel their personal relationships suffer as a result. See
