Investments in Sheffield

Sheffield Council leader Julie Dore signs a 60-year partnership deal with Wang Chunming, chairman and president of Chinese firm Sichuan Guodong Construction Group, in Sheffield's sister city Chengdu.

I have been reading that he thinks that Sheffield needs a five-star hotel, and he wants to put in a large fountain like the one he has designed for one of his properties.

The list goes on and on what he wants to do to Sheffield. Apparently he has the full backing of both the British Government and the Chinese government (the Chinese government encourage acquiring assets in other countries).

So we are now a city that needs to be given handouts.

This is not investing. When you invest in something it is so that you get something in return. What is this businessman getting in return? Our City.

We voted out of the EU, because some people didn’t want ‘foreigners’ taking our jobs but we can sell our city to a Chinese businessman, obviously so he can make money out of us.

If Sheffield needs investment so badly perhaps the British government could stop investing in other countries and invest in its own cities.
