Regarding groups of residents patrolling streets in Page Hall and Fir Vale in a bid to stop gangs hanging around on street corners (Star Oct 21).
These law-abiding residents are suffering disruption in their neighbourhood and if the police are failing to deal with it then their only alternative is to police their own community. This does not necessarily mean taking the law into their own hands but they need to make it clear to the Roma Slovac residents that their intimidating behaviour is not acceptable. If they choose to come to Great Britain, then they must abide by our rules and regulations. This, unfortunately, is the appalling outcome of our country’s disastrous ‘open door’ immigration policy which is a shambles. I feel desperately sorry for the decent residents of Page Hall and Fir Vale for having this intolerable situation foisted upon them.
