March 5: The fifth annual free screening of the film Philomena will be held for International Women’s Day. There will be a collection for women’s charities and talks by Paul Blomfield MP, Sheffield University women’s officer Miriam Miller and Pat Pepper, UNITE. March 7: One Darnall International Women’s Day event, noon-4pm in Darnall Community Centre, will focus on women’s health, food and dancing.
March 7: Free events ranging from business start-up help and parenting advice to pilates tasters and a workshop on the effects of porn on children will be staged in Sheffield Town Hall from noon to celebrate International Women’s Day. In an Inspire Room local successful women will engage in a Q&A with visitors, and outside in the Peace Gardens activities for women and children will include a bulb-planting workshop, explorer walks around the city, dance, hoola hoop and football sessions. The day will end with a fashion event showcasing two local designers.
